Doug woke up this morning at 6AM. No need for him to own an alarm clock, thanks to the help of his nanodog, Monster. Before going to work as the CEO of a large investment banking company, Seabreeze, Doug takes Monster on his morning walk and listens as his nanodog shares missed messages, voicemales, the daily news, emails, or anything else he might like to listen to on his morning stroll. Together they enjoy the cool and crisp weather. After their walk, Doug begins to get ready for work, listening to 90’s music through Monster speakers. While Doug gets ready, Monster is programmed to do research and tell Doug what is the best way for him to drive to work to avoid traffic. Doug's whole life revolves around Monster. Which makes leaving him at home for work the hardest part of his day. While Doug is at work, Monster goes and sits in his charging station house. Similar to what a typical dog's house would look like, but a nanodog’s house is where they charge and receive updates to their software and hardware.
Back in the late 1980’s the world wide web was invented and in the beginning of the 1990s there was an application to use the World Wide Web. With the simplicity, excitement, and accessibility to everything at the tips of your fingers. Millions of people became obsessed with the internet and spent most of their time using the internet for business, social, fun, and to try new things. This dramatically took away from social interactions between people and their animals. Shifting time spent with dogs outside, to on the internet. Nanodog’s including Monster were created by a dog loving scientist, named Guss, who felt that he was struggling to give his own furry companions enough attention because of his obsession with using the World Wide Web on his computer. Guss decided that he could create a genetically modified dog that could perform all of the same functions as the modern day World Wide Web as well as be a furry companion. Once he finally perfected his creation, nanodogs became available for sale all over the world. Taking the place of the World Wide Web and normal dogs. Stunting the growth of new internet users but dramatically expanding the number of nanodog users. This dramatically shifted the direction that the internet was heading in. Instead of new developments to the computer or World Wide Web. New versions of Nanodogs started to come out each year with new abilities, services, information, and add ons. Nanodogs made surfing the World Wide Web on a computer obsolete.
Monster is a newer model of the nanodogs, with him being the 2020 model. Nanodogs are everywhere and deeply show affection and connection to their humans, much like normal dogs. While Doug is at work, Monster likes to do typical dog things like sitting on the couch, chasing squirrels in the backyard, and digging holes. He hates when his owner leaves for work because it means that he is all by himself all day. Doug is a firm believer in only having one animal to show them their undivided affection. Doug returns home early from work today giving him even more time to spend with his dearest pal and best furry friend, Monster.
The first thing that Doug does when he returns back to his house is take Monster down to the game room in the basement. With Monster being a newer version of nanodog, his collar acts in the same way that a pair of VR glasses would. Doug puts Monster's collar on his wrist and immediately is sent into the metaverse. Here he can play games, some even with Monster included as his partner. They both love this time because it's when they can try new things and play together.
After they are finished playing with the metaverse, Doug and Monster go to the kitchen to prepare both of their dinners. For Monster, since he is a nanodog, his food is electronic food that he picks out and when he plugs into his smart house, that is how he eats. After he is done, he helps Doug decide what he is going to cook for dinner. Sharing directions and recipes and being by Doug's side the whole time.
Once they are finished with dinner, Doug watches a movie and has Monster share with him any texts, calls, and emails he had received and send out messages to the people he needed to reply to. When it's time for bed, Doug tucks Monster into his nanodog-house and heads to his room to sleep.
The next morning, Doug is woken up by the sun and very disoriented. He is typically awoken by Monster every single morning. Something feels wrong he says to himself and rushes downstairs to Monster’s house. Monster looks like he is sleeping but won’t wake up. Doug begins to panic, saying “he can’t be dead, nano dogs never die.” He immediately runs in search of his backup computer for emergencies. Doug barely even understands how to navigate a computer because it was never taught in school. His whole life is paper/pencil and the most normal way to get your internet is through your nanodog. He finds Dr.Gusses email and sends a panicked message.
,Hours go by and Monster has shown no change and there has not been a reply from Dr.Guss. All of a sudden, there is a pounding at the front door. Normally Monster would share who is at the door, but cannot do so at this time. Doug opens the door to a frantic Dr.Guss and a team of scientists and technicians. The creator of Nanodog’s cannot let his reputation be ruined by the death of a nanodog considering their prime marketing is revolved around nanodogs never dying. Doug is rushed into another room while Dr.Guss looks at Monster. It takes just an hour for Dr.Guss to discover the problem occurring with Monster.
Doug is in shambles while his best friend and furry mate are being examined. As soon as the doctor walks into the room he immediately is relieved that he sees Monster alive and well again. Monster runs and jumps into the arms of his favorite human on Earth. When emotions begin to settle, the doctor begins to explain that Monster had a glitch. While Doug was at work yesterday and Monster was sitting in his nanodog house, he received an update that was for an older version of nanodogs by accident. When Doug got home and used the VR settings with Monster, it sparked a glitch in his system because the update he received was not compatible with his VR application.
After the doctor left the house, he immediately sent out a message to all nanodog owners to check which update their pets are about to receive. If it is the M12MVP update, to disregard and make sure to not use applications that are not compatible with the version of nanodog they own. Doug and Monster were heroes! Saving the lives of many nanodogs around the world.
